Eating Gluten-Free at Disney World Full Review:
Good afternoon, Readers!
If you're heading to Walt Disney World with coeliac disease or gluten sensitivity, you’re in for a treat! Disney does gluten-free dining exceptionally well. Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of visiting Orlando, Florida, and spent over a week at the Walt Disney World Resort. During my stay, I tried a wide array of gluten-free options across the four parks. I enjoyed iconic staples like gluten-free Mickey Waffles and delightful surprises like gluten-free ice cream macarons. Here’s a glimpse into one of my gluten-free days at Disney World.
Before we dive in, I want to mention that on this day, we only dined at quick-service restaurants. These eateries are fantastic at accommodating dietary needs, making gluten-free dining throughout the parks a breeze. For a complete overview of these restaurants and what makes them great for dietary requirements, check out my full post here: Disney World Quick-Service Eateries Guide – An overview of eating gluten-free at Disney World.
Breakfast: Gluten-Free Mickey Waffle Breakfast at Pop Century Resort
On this particular day, we stayed at Pop Century Resort. This hotel features a quick-service eatery in the lobby that offers various breakfast options. During this trip, we also stayed at All-Star Sports Resort and Art of Animation. Each hotel has a unique theme, but the food options at their quick-service restaurants are quite similar.
This morning, we kicked off our day with the Waffle Bounty Platter. It included Mickey Waffles, maple syrup, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and potato barrels. Most importantly, the waffles were still shaped like Mickey Mouse!
The waffles were soft and fluffy, while the scrambled eggs were decent. You can never go wrong with potato barrels. The portion size was generous, leaving us well-fuelled for the day ahead. After finishing breakfast, we headed to the bus to make our way to Magic Kingdom.

Lunch: Gluten-Free Tamales at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn, Magic Kingdom
After spending the morning enjoying rides and soaking in the sights and sounds of Magic Kingdom, we started to feel hungry. We decided to head over to Frontierland and visit Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe for lunch.
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe is another quick-service eatery. The ordering process for gluten-free options is the same as at other quick-service restaurants throughout Disney World (for a full guide, see my Disney World Quick-Service Eateries Guide – An overview of eating gluten-free at Disney World). We ordered two sets of steamed tamales — one beef and one chicken — each served with stewed pinto beans, cilantro-lime rice, queso fresco, and pico de gallo.
Since we arrived during lunchtime, the restaurant was packed, making it nearly impossible to find a seat indoors. We managed to snag a spot outside in the courtyard, which turned out to be a better choice. Inside, the restaurant was dark, stuffy, and very loud. The courtyard offered a quieter atmosphere and a breath of fresh air, while the Florida sun warmed us up.
The tamales were flavourful and satisfying, with the chicken being our personal favourite. The portion sizes were just right, leaving us comfortably full without feeling overstuffed.
With lunch complete, we continued our exploration of the park. As the afternoon wore on, we decided to hop from Magic Kingdom to Hollywood Studios for the evening.

Gluten-Free Snacks: Refreshing Gluten-Free Dole Whips
Walt Disney World Resort is massive, and you can easily rack up tens of thousands of steps in a single day. That means snacks are a must! Luckily, there are plenty of places offering gluten-free treats throughout the parks.
One of our favourites was the Dole Whip. This delightful mix of slushie and ice cream made for a refreshing sweet treat, especially when the Florida sun decided to shine. They come in various flavours and with different toppings. Just be cautious, as not all toppings are gluten-free. It’s always a good idea to check with a staff member at the counter.
Dinner: Gluten-Free Fried Chicken at Docking Bay 7, Star Wars Galaxy's Edge
For dinner, we headed to Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, located in the heart of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios. This quick-service restaurant became one of our favourites in the entire park. I’ve already provided a detailed review of this meal, which you can find here: Best Gluten-free at Disney World? Gluten-free eating in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (Disney World).
If Star Wars isn’t your thing, don’t worry! There are plenty of options around Disney World. If you need a break from the parks by dinner time, the quick-service restaurants at the hotels offer solid meals. For example, the restaurant at Pop Century has a range of options from pizzas to burgers. The food quality here is a step up from fast food, but not quite fine dining.

Dessert: Strawberry Ice-Cream Macaron at EPCOT's French Pavilion
To wrap up the night, we dashed from Hollywood Studios to EPCOT to catch the incredible fireworks display. While enjoying the show, we treated ourselves to perhaps our favourite snack in the whole resort – the ice-cream macaron. Found nestled at the back of the French pavilion at EPCOT, these sweet treats are perfect for fireworks-watching. The macaron shell is crisp and light, while the ice cream in the middle bursts with flavour. The strawberry flavour was our personal favourite.
Conclusion:
Before we knew it, we were back at our hotel room at Pop Century, getting ready for a well-deserved rest. For coeliacs and those who are gluten-free, Disney World takes gluten-free travel very seriously. You won’t have to worry about finding something to eat throughout the parks. This itinerary offers just one delicious route through the parks. Be sure to check our guide to quick-service restaurants and our individual restaurant reviews for even more options.
So, enjoy the parks, and don’t stress too much about what you can eat – the Mouse has you covered!
